Mladen Bartulovich: "This victory is a birthday greeting for the club!"

The head coach of "Metalist 1925" Mladen Bartulovich on his team's victory over "Oleksandriya":

— First of all, I want to thank and congratulate my team and the whole club on a very important victory. This is our first success in the Premier League after our return, and it has huge psychological significance, especially for the guys. The first goal was also a key moment because before that the team was a bit tense. After scoring, we played completely differently, created many chances, and deservedly won.

— Towards the end of the second half, "Oleksandriya" reduced the score. Did it cause any anxiety?

— Yes, it was disappointing because we could have avoided that goal. Especially since the opponent had no chances before that — one mistake and the ball was in our net. But what's important is how we reacted: we didn't step back, instead, we pushed forward and scored again.

— The last two goals were created by the young players who came off the bench. Panchenko had two assists, Hadyiev scored two goals. How satisfied are you with their contribution to the game?

— I always say that it's very important how players come off the bench. And today they did exactly what was expected of them — they helped the team. It doesn't matter how much time they get — 10, 15 minutes, or the whole half — they need to come on and make a difference. It's important for the whole team.

— The match took place in difficult weather conditions, significant heat. How did it affect the game?

— Yes, it was very hot, but both we and "Oleksandriya" were in the same conditions. In such games, the key is to make fewer mistakes, not lose the ball. It's very hard to get back into the game after conceding in such heat. I understand the guys, I played in similar conditions myself. So, I want to once again highlight their character — they showed it today.

— There are many newcomers in the team. How well has the team gelled so far?

— We need time. But I see progress with each training session and match. We are still looking for the optimal lineup, trying different options, giving chances to different players. I am confident that we will find the best starting eleven soon.

— Does the club plan to strengthen further?

— Yes, we are working in that direction, and I am confident that there will be more new signings before the end of the transfer window.

— Tomorrow "Metalist 1925" turns 9 years old. Is this victory a kind of gift to the club?

— Definitely. It's very nice to secure a victory right before such an important date. Yes, this victory is a greeting to the club for its birthday!

— In the Ukrainian Cup, you were drawn against another UPL team, "Obolon". How do you rate the draw?

— I believe it's a good draw. "Obolon" is a strong team, currently at the top of the league. It will be interesting to play against them again and see what conclusions we draw from the first match.
