Yevhen Nazarov: "The guys tried to change the course of the match until the end and did not give up"

Senior coach of "Metalist 1925" U-19 Yevhen Nazarov shared his impressions of the game against "Rukh" U-19 (1:3):

- How do you assess today's match and the team's performance in the two halves?

- The match was tough and unfortunately, the result was not in our favor. In the first half, we lacked quality in our game: we lost the ball battles multiple times, which is crucial in such competitive matches. We were a bit hasty in ball work, losing control and unable to execute our attacks and play the football we aim for. The opponent was able to capitalize on their set pieces, where we lacked discipline and concentration. In the second half, the team looked much better - we improved in ball work quality, in battles, had moments, and overall the game became more active from our side.

- In the 21st minute, Kondratiuk created a great opportunity, but Panchenko failed to convert a practically one hundred percent chance. Can it be said that the conversion of chances today was one of the key problems for the team?

- In football, it is important not only to convert chances but also to systematically create them. We strive to build the game in a way that the team generates a sufficient number of goal-scoring opportunities, which should ultimately result in scored goals. Today we had good episodes, but we need to work even harder to bring our attacks to a quality finish and regularly convert the created chances into goals.

- In the second half, the team looked much more active. What adjustments were made during the break?

- During the break, we talked to the guys about the importance of playing the football we practice every day, regardless of the opponent or field conditions. The team is in a process of learning and development, so it is crucial for us to implement on the field the game principles we work on in training sessions and discuss in theoretical classes.

- Kolisnyk entered the game very actively and added speed to the attack. How did his entry and substitutions overall affect the course of the match?

- Kolisnyk indeed entered the game well, added speed and sharpness upfront. In the end, his actions led to scoring a goal. Overall, the substitutions refreshed the game: the team became more active, acted more boldly, created several good moments, but unfortunately, couldn't convert them. At the same time, it is important that the guys tried to change the course of the match until the end and did not give up.
